For most gingers it’s hard to look not pale certainly if you live in a country with loads of cloudy rainy days. We do tan just not as easily and we get free freckles on the side. Our “melanin-releasing cells, called melanocytes, also produce another chemical that causes skin inflammation” source. So it’s just a bit more tricky for us to get some color.
But there is a reason why airlines ban sick passengers. If someone becomes very ill on a plane, the airline will divert and do everything to rescue that passengers, safety first. A medical emergency like that costs a lot of money and has a huge impact on the scheduling. So thats why airlines are not keen on taking passengers that could lead to these events.
The banned ginger got quite some media attention so I guess airlines will double check before they ban another pale looking red head.
