Yesterday I did a talk in Shanghai about how to travel luxuriously on a budget. Usually people find it hard to believe that you can have a glass of champagne in a double bed suite in the sky for just 47 USD.
“What life do you want to live?”
That was my opening question. Do you want to work work work work until you are in your sixties or seventies and then start checking off your bucket list?
Or would you prefer to take mini retirements, not even a gap year but just weekends and short breaks full of activities you enjoy, things your are passionate about?
Obviously I choose the second option. And the interesting thing is that it helped me in my career as well. My passion to explore the unknown in the weekends enabled me to work and live in 4 different countries so far. Collaborating with over 15 nationalities on global projects around the world.
After taking this passion to the next level and a lot of research and talking to fellow travel geeks I found out about ways to travel luxuriously on a budget. Since that time I have had some incredible experiences. Things people dream about for when they retire. I just do them in the weekend during my mini retirements.
