Points that you can transfer to different airlines
Don’t just sign up for any credit card if you want to earn miles easily! I only sign up for cards for which I can earn points that I can convert 1:1 to different airline frequent flyer programs.
Why? It gives me flexibility, I am not stuck with one airline! I want to fly cheap and I know there are promo fares with different airlines at different times. So whenever a golden deal is there I can convert my points to that specific airline.
As a Dubai residents you can sign up for Citibank credit cards to earn points which you can convert to following airline programs:

- Etihad Airwys (check my Business Class experience)
- Eva Air
- Air France and KML
- Garuda Indonesia
- Malaysia Airlines
- Qantas
- Thai Airways
Last year there was a 90% discount with Garuda and you could book First(!) class tickets between 9,000 and 19,000 miles. This is insane if you know that credit cards offer often between 10.000 and 60.000 points as sign up bonus. Citibank points were also one of the only points out there that could be converted to Garuda.
The 1 to 1 transfer ratio is very important here, not every bank offers this transparent transfer mechanism. On top of that you can redeem tickets on partner airlines so you can fly more airlines than the ones mentioned above.
So now you are one step closer to experience First or Business class while you pay your bills. Sometimes the sign up bonus of the card will already get you a First class one way ticket!

At the moment Citibank offers 2 interesting cards that allow you to transfer to different airline programs.
They also offer EMIRATES-CITIBANK ULTIMATE but that one will only earn points for Emirates Skywards. I prefer flexible options but it’s up to you.
