About 12 years ago I traveled to China. It was my first trip outside of Europe, my comfort zone at the time. Ever since I have been pursuing new experiences around the world.

Meeting up with the locals and exchanging stories while trying new food is the most enjoyable & educational part of traveling for me. The process of going somewhere with a certain idea of how you think this place is going to be like … and then return with a different outlook is enriching.

How many airlines have you flown?

Over 30 different airlines in economy with Koryo Air from North Korean, being the most remarkable one.
In Business Class: Oman Air, Juneyao, Ethiopian, Emirates, British Airways, Philippine Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Etihad and Air Asia X.
In First Class: Singapore Airlines, Etihad and Qatar Airways.

How many countries have you visited?

Over 50 and still counting 🙂

Why do you blog?

I share my adventures to inspire you to travel. Debunking the myth that travel is super expensive is also one of my missions. For example my post about a cheap return flight from Dubai to Philippines for just 50 USD.

Do you have sponsors for your flights and hotels?

No, I pay for all my flights and hotels. I did get a discount once in a hotel and was invited on a press trip but that’s it.
Traveling is my passion and like any other hobby I am willing to spend money for it.

How can you afford First and Business class Flights then?

By working full time and spending hours and hours on google flights and researching how to use miles and points to score the best deals.
I even have a post about how exactly I booked some of these luxury flights.

What do you do for a living?

I am a Software Engineer / Architect.

What is your favorite country?

It’s hard to choose one, but if I really have to then it deferentially is Japan!

Why do you travel?

For now I don’t want to have the mainstream 9-5 job, house, family, kids life. You can either hang on your couch like all the rest or leave your comfort zone, meet new people around the world and collect memories. It can be exhausting but I feel so much more alive experiencing all these new things. On top of that I learned so much things while traveling that are not taught in any school.

What kind of traveler are you?

I try to experience as much as possible while traveling. From backpacking in the desert in India, sleeping under the stars to flying First class on 5 star airlines and riding shinkansen bullet trains in Japan. In Philippines I jumped in the water with giant whale sharks and glided over islands on a zipline. Traveling is also about food so I tried things like balut, grass hoppers, squirming octopus, horse meat and more. Sleeping in a hotel room all the time is gets boring so I squeezed myself in a capsule room, climbed in a tree hut villa and tried to sleep during a 17 hour train ride to Varanasi. It’s about adeventures, rafting on wild rivers in Mexico or giving wave surfing a try in Bali. I choose to explore, to leave my comfort zone and enjoy sunsets all over this planet.
